BILL COX: 2017 STEMMONS AWARD WINNER

MCKINNEY / COLLIN COUNTY LEADER BILL COX RECEIVES REAL ESTATE'S HIGHEST HONOR

VETERAN MCKINNEY/COLLIN COUNTY LEADER BILL COX PRESENTED THE NTCAR STEMMONS SERVICE AWARD FOR HIS DEDICATION TO PROFESSION AND COMMUNITY

Leadership and service are a proud family tradition; in 2001 Cox’s father, Carey Cox, also received the Stemmons Service Award, considered the real estate industry’s highest honor

DALLAS (Feb. 7, 2018) – Following in the footsteps of his father who received the same award in 2001, McKinney/Collin County leader Bill Cox was chosen to receive his profession’s highest honor – NTCAR’s Stemmons Service Award. The annual recognition goes to a member of the North Texas Commercial Association of Real Estate (NTCAR) who best exemplifies the highest standards of a commercial broker along with a demonstrated commitment to professional and community involvement. Cox was presented the award at a dinner held Jan. 25 at the Dallas Country Club.

“This is the first time NTCAR has presented the Stemmons Service Award to two generations of the same family,” said Steve Berger, 2016 recipient of the award and the 2017 event emcee. “Bill Cox and his father, Carey Cox, set the bar very high with their commitment to the commercial real estate profession as well as their tremendous dedication to the community where they live and work.”

Cox, who currently serves as vice president of the McKinney-based Carey Cox Company, has a long history of giving back. Just recently, in recognition of his service, he was named the McKinney Chamber Carey Cox Citizen of the Year for 2017, an honor especially meaningful since it was named after his father.

The former McKinney City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem currently chairs the City of McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission and is a current member and former chairman of the Collin County Planning Board. Actively involved in education, he serves on the Board and is past chairman of the Collin College Foundation Board of Directors and was a co-chair of Collin College’s $600 million bond program, which was approved in 2016. Additionally, Cox is a past president of the Rotary Club of McKinney, current Foundation chair of the Rotary Club of McKinney and a board member of the Rotary All-Abilities Park.

From a professional standpoint, he is a board member of the Texas Association of Realtors and Collin County Association of Realtors. He has held numerous leadership roles in the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors and was recently appointed to the executive committee for the NTCAR Hall of Fame.

“My father was a remarkable role model, always striving to do his best for the profession and community he loved,” said Cox. “He left very big shoes to fill, and I’m extremely honored that NTCAR believes I’m worthy of this remarkable honor.”

Cox resides in McKinney with his wife Wendy and two children.
